Inguinal, femoral, umbilical, incisional, and hiatal hernias occur in different anatomical locations.
Advanced Hernia Surgery Care
Individualised repair of abdominal-wall weakness using open or laparoscopic techniques, with mesh reinforcement when appropriate.
What is a hernia?
A hernia occurs when tissue pushes through a weak area in the muscle or connective tissue that normally contains it. It may appear as a bulge in the groin, navel, or a previous surgical scar and can become more noticeable with coughing, lifting, or straining.
Muscle weakness may combine with repeated strain from lifting, coughing, constipation, pregnancy, or increased abdominal pressure.
The protruding tissue is returned to position and the weak area is closed, often with mesh support.
Painful, trapped, or non-reducible hernias can indicate obstruction or loss of blood supply and require urgent care.
Symptoms and warning signs
Symptoms can overlap with other conditions. A clinical examination is needed for diagnosis and treatment planning.
From diagnosis to recovery
Every treatment plan is adjusted to the diagnosis, severity, medical history, and individual recovery needs.
Diagnosis
Physical examination is central. Ultrasound or CT may be used when the diagnosis or anatomy is unclear.
Repair selection
Open or laparoscopic repair is selected according to hernia type, size, recurrence, and patient factors.
Recurrence prevention
Wound care, gradual activity, healthy weight, constipation care, and smoking cessation support recovery.
Frequently asked questions
Can a hernia heal without surgery?
Most adult abdominal-wall hernias do not close on their own. Observation or repair depends on symptoms and risk.
Is mesh always required?
Mesh is commonly used for durable reinforcement, but the repair method depends on the hernia and clinical circumstances.
Which symptoms need emergency care?
Severe pain, vomiting, abdominal distension, fever, or a firm bulge that cannot be pushed back require urgent assessment.
